- I am an African-American Yank, transported to the South after college. Met my Southern husband. Married, had 4 kids. In my single life I lived in Kijabe, Kenya, Ephrata, PA, Shillington, PA, Brownstown, PA, Shamokin, PA, Schuylkill Haven, PA, Lanham, MD, and Birmingham, AL. Since I married, I lived in Atlanta, GA, Gainesville, FL, and now Birmingham, AL. Now I'm widowed. Still have 4 kids. My formerly brown hair has turned to silver/gray. I don't color it. It is a mark of all I've been through in my life. My parents were missionaries in Kenya, E. Africa from the late '50's to the 70's. I was born there, which is how I can claim to be "African-American." Born in Africa, to American parents. I spent my teen years in Pennsylvania where my dad pastored several churches. College was in Maryland, and then I ended up in Birmingham, AL of all places. God has a sense of humor. I follow Him. Have given up trying to tell Him what to do. Am learning to listen and obey. Life keeps me on my knees.
